Marble maintenance and restoration for hotels in Geneva

Lobbies, corridors and suite bathrooms restored at night or room by room, with complete discretion for your guests.

Hotels and palaces

Immaculate marble, without your guests ever noticing

In Geneva, luxury hospitality runs to the rhythm of conferences, international organisations, trade fairs and business stays along the lakeside quays. In that setting, a hotel lobby is never empty: late arrivals, dawn departures, meetings at the bar, suitcases rolling across the floor. The marble is under constant use, and every scratch and coffee ring shows under the careful lighting of a reception hall.

Les Traitements du Sud · Geneva supports hotels and palaces in the maintenance and restoration of their marble: lobbies, corridors, grand staircases, suite bathrooms, basins, vanity tops and spa surfaces. We work with the engineering department and housekeeping so that our work fits around the running of the house, never the other way round.

Our principle is simple: the hotel guest should notice nothing but the result. We work at night in public areas and room by room on the guest floors according to the occupancy plan, with discreet teams, smart workwear and equipment that is as quiet as possible.

Every assignment begins with a site visit and a free quote in Swiss francs, prepared with the director of engineering, and can continue, if you wish, with a maintenance contract calibrated to your occupancy rate and your seasons.

The lobby restored between midnight and breakfast

A hotel’s public areas never truly close, but they do quieten down. We schedule our work in the lobby, reception and ground-floor corridors during those off-peak hours, in coordination with the night manager and security. Treated areas are cordoned off elegantly and the route to the lifts always stays clear.

On a very busy lobby, crystallisation of the walkways restores the expected shine in a single night. Where the floor is deeply scratched by luggage wheels, grinding followed by polishing is spread over several nights, section by section.

By the time breakfast opens, the equipment has been packed away, the floors are clean and dry, and the day team finds a hall ready to welcome guests.

On the guest floors

Corridors and suites, in step with the occupancy plan

On the guest floors, we work hand in hand with the executive housekeeper. Rooms and suites are treated once vacated, often between a check-out and a check-in, or blocked for a day during a quieter period. Corridors are treated in sections, at the times when traffic is lightest.

Marble suite bathrooms are often an establishment’s signature. Geneva’s hard water, cosmetics and unsuitable cleaning products leave their mark: dull patches on the basin, rings around the taps, greyed joints in the shower. Our marble bathroom restoration combines stain removal, local re-polishing and water-repellent protection.

01

One room, one visit

Basin, vanity top, shower tray and bathroom floor treated within the day. The room is handed back to housekeeping clean and dry, ready for the pre-arrival inspection.

02

Corridors in sections

We treat one stretch of corridor at a time, always leaving half of it usable. Wet-working machines keep noise and dust to a minimum outside occupied rooms.

03

Spa and pool

Marble pool surrounds, hammams and changing rooms need protection suited to constant humidity. We work before the spa opens or during its technical closure.

Our method

How a hotel assignment unfolds

An organisation designed around engineering, housekeeping and front office.

  1. 1

    Walk-through with engineering

We tour the lobby, corridors, suites and spa, identify the marbles present and list the priorities: dulled walkways, scratches, stains, chips.

  2. 2

    Free quote and options

A quote in Swiss francs broken down by area, with finish options and a proposed timetable. You decide according to your budget and your season.

  3. 3

    Scheduling with housekeeping

We fit the night shifts and the list of rooms to be treated around the occupancy plan, with a single point of contact on the hotel side.

  4. 4

    Discreet work

Uniformed team, badges as you require, equipment protected and stored away from guest areas. Every area is handed back clean and dry.

  5. 5

    Inspection and protection

We apply a protective sealer, carry out an inspection with the technical manager and leave instructions for the cleaning teams.

Discretion

A team that knows how to be invisible

Working in a luxury hotel means respecting its codes. Our technicians know the rules: never pass a guest with a machine, always give way, keep voices down in corridors, never leave a cable or a bucket in sight. Equipment comes in and goes out through the service entrance.

Confidentiality is part of the job. What we see in a suite stays there, and we never publicise our work without the establishment’s written consent.

Our teams speak French and English, which makes communication easier with international staff and, if needed, with a guest who asks a question.

Hotel maintenance contract

Keeping standards high all year round

Hotel marble is easier to maintain than to rescue. We offer contracts calibrated to your footfall: regular night visits to the lobby, a rotation through the suite bathrooms, extra work ahead of peak periods and after winter, when salt and grit have marked the entrance.

The marble maintenance contract includes a report after each visit and availability for emergencies: red wine spilt on a landing, a rust mark under a trolley, a chip on a grand staircase step.

  • Night-time work in the lobby and public areas
  • Room-by-room treatment following the occupancy plan
  • Discreet, uniformed team, bilingual in French and English
  • Wet methods, no dust or odour in the corridors
  • Free quote in Swiss francs broken down by area
  • Complete confidentiality about the establishment and its guests

FAQ

Hotels: your questions about marble maintenance

Can you work only at night in our lobby?

Yes, that is in fact how we normally organise work in a hotel’s public areas. We arrive after the bar’s last service, work in sections while always keeping access to the lifts, and leave before breakfast. Floors are handed back dry, clean and usable. A larger job is simply spread over several consecutive nights.

How do you treat guest bathrooms without disrupting operations?

We work room by room following the occupancy plan provided by housekeeping, usually between a check-out and a check-in. A marble bathroom is generally completed within the day. For more extensive restoration, we suggest blocking a few rooms during a quiet period to limit the impact on your revenue.

Are your machines noisy for guests on the upper floors?

We favour wet-working machines and low-speed rotary units, which are far quieter than dry grinding. In corridors, we adjust our hours to avoid sleeping and resting times, and we coordinate with reception so we never work outside a room where a guest has asked not to be disturbed.

Should a busy lobby be crystallised or polished?

It depends on the marble. On most calcareous marbles, crystallisation gives a harder, glossier surface that suits walkways well. On a more delicate marble, or if you prefer a satin look, mechanical polishing with a protective sealer is more appropriate. We carry out a test on an inconspicuous area before recommending a solution.

Can you come out urgently after a stain or an incident?

Under a maintenance contract, we provide availability for incidents: spilt wine or coffee, a rust mark, a chipped step. The faster we intervene, the simpler the stain removal. Until we arrive, we advise blotting without rubbing and never applying acidic or bleach-based products to the stone.

Do you respect our establishment’s confidentiality?

Absolutely. We never name a hotel in our communications, never publish photos taken on your premises without your written consent and never disclose anything we see in rooms or private areas. Our technicians are trained in the customs of luxury hospitality and follow your house’s access rules.
