Marble restoration in Bellevue

Marble polishing, stain removal, repair and protection for lakeside villas and residences in Bellevue.

Bellevue · postcode 1293

A lakeside municipality on the doorstep of International Geneva

Bellevue stretches along the right bank of the lake, just after Pregny-Chambésy as you leave Geneva and before Genthod. The Route de Lausanne runs through it, the railway line follows it, and both the airport and the international organisations are only minutes away. That location explains a great deal about its interiors.

Here you will find waterfront properties or homes overlooking the lake, villa neighbourhoods built mostly from the second half of the twentieth century onwards, and more recent residences. A large share of residents come from abroad, for a few years or for good. The marble is therefore often “contemporary” marble: large pale slabs, bathrooms clad from floor to ceiling, open-plan kitchens with a stone island.

Les Traitements du Sud · Geneva helps owners, tenants and property managers in Bellevue bring these surfaces back to their best: polishing, stain removal, repair and protection, in French or in English.

Restoring a home between two tenancies

In Bellevue, many villas and flats are let to families posted to Geneva. Each time they leave, the marble tells the story of the years gone by: scratches in front of the patio doors, glass rings on the coffee table, a kitchen worktop dulled by citrus, greyed grout in the bathroom.

Between the check-out inspection and the next tenant’s arrival, the window is often short. We plan the work around that timetable with the owner or the property manager, so that floors and worktops are presentable before the new keys are handed over. Full polishing restores an even surface; a protective treatment then limits fresh stains.

By the water

What the lake does to villa marble

Lakefront houses live facing outdoors. Sliding doors stay open all summer, people come in from the jetty or the terrace barefoot or in garden shoes, and gravel from the paths ends up on the living-room floor. On polished marble those grains act like sandpaper: within a few seasons, a dull strip appears between the terrace and the kitchen.

In winter it is road de-icing salt that finds its way into the entrance. The large windows, meanwhile, rake the floor with low light that reveals every scratch. For these very bright interiors we often recommend a light grind followed by polishing, rather than a simple buff that would hide the problem for only a few weeks. A good entrance mat on the garden side then makes a real difference.

The marbles laid in these villas vary widely: Carrara whites veined with grey, warmer creams and beiges, and sometimes darker stones in bathrooms. They do not all respond to polishing or household products in the same way. That is why every visit begins with a discreet test on an inconspicuous area: it tells us which finish can be achieved and which protection best suits your stone.

PPE residences

Halls and staircases in Bellevue’s apartment buildings

Alongside its villas, Bellevue has condominium (PPE) residences whose entrance halls and staircases are often finished in polished marble. In these common areas, wear always follows the same pattern: a dull corridor between the door and the lift, rounded stair nosings, marks from suitcase and pushchair wheels and, in winter, a whitish deposit left by de-icing salt.

For property managers and building administrators, we offer a full restoration followed by scheduled maintenance, carried out outside peak hours and one half of the passage at a time so residents can always get through. The quote is written so it can be presented as it stands at the PPE owners’ meeting. More information on our marble lobby and marble staircase pages.

FAQ

Marble restoration in Bellevue: your questions

Can you work between one tenant leaving and the next arriving?

Yes, it is a frequent request in Bellevue. Let us know as soon as the inspection dates are set: we visit beforehand, send the quote to the property manager or owner, then book the days required. An apartment floor is generally completed in two to four days.

I live abroad. Can you manage the project without me?

Yes. We arrange the visit with your house manager, caretaker or property manager, correspond by email in French or English and send you before-and-after photos. The free quote, in Swiss francs, details each room so you can decide from a distance.

Why is my living-room floor dull only on the terrace side?

That is the busiest route between the garden and the house. Sand and gravel carried in scratch the polish with every step. A fine grind followed by polishing evens out the surface, and an entrance mat on the garden side then helps the result last much longer.

My worktop has dark stains. Can they be removed?

Often, yes. Oil or wine stains have soaked into the stone: we draw them out with a poultice, sometimes in several passes. The pale marks left by lemon or vinegar are surface etching, which polishing removes. An oil-repellent sealer completes the work.

Does polishing damage grout or taps?

No. We protect taps, bathroom furniture and skirting before starting, and we use machines suited to small areas. If grout lines are cracked or blackened, we can redo them during the same visit, having flagged it on the quote first.

Is the quote free in Bellevue?

Yes. Bellevue is part of our Right Bank sector and we do not charge for travelling to the visit. You then receive an itemised quote in Swiss francs, with no obligation.
