Marble grinding, polishing, repair and protection for apartment-building halls, villas and lakeside properties in Versoix.

Versoix · postcode 1290

The small town at the north of the canton, between lake and river

Versoix marks the northern edge of the canton of Geneva on the right bank, just before the Vaud border and Coppet. It is more of a town than its neighbours: a centre with shops and a station, blocks of flats, villa neighbourhoods on the higher ground, and a long lakefront with Port-Choiseul and the beaches. The River Versoix, which gives the town its name, flows through it before reaching Lake Geneva.

Its history is unusual. In the eighteenth century Versoix was French, and the Duc de Choiseul, minister to Louis XV, launched a plan to build a port town here to rival Geneva. The new town never materialised on the scale intended, but the name Port-Choiseul and some of the street alignments still bear witness to it.

Today, Les Traitements du Sud · Geneva works here in apartment-building halls run by property managers as well as in family homes and lakeside properties: marble grinding, polishing, repair and protection.

The entrance hall, a building’s first impression

Versoix has many rental and condominium (PPE) buildings, a good number of them built between the 1960s and the present day. Their halls are often finished in marble or polished stone, with a matching staircase. These are hard-working surfaces: dozens of people passing every day, deliveries, house moves, pushchairs and bicycles.

We begin by putting right the accumulated damage (scratches, chips at the foot of the stairs, rust marks under the letterboxes), then, if the property manager wishes, set up regular maintenance. The work is always done leaving a clear way through, using water, with no dust in the stairwell.

Winter

Salt, grit and slush in the entrance halls

Versoix’s halls know the Geneva winter well. Pavements and paths are salted, grit sticks to shoe soles, and melting snow carries it all as far as the lift. As it dries, the salt leaves white rings; the grit scratches the polish like sandpaper. By spring, the first metre inside the door has often turned matt.

Two simple measures make a real difference: a large recessed brush mat at the entrance, and cleaning with plain water rather than a harsh detergent. Beyond that, a restorative polish each spring on the entrance zone alone is often enough to keep the whole hall looking right. It is a cost-effective solution that we are happy to offer property managers.

Hillside villas and waterfront properties

Above the railway line, Versoix’s villa neighbourhoods are mainly home to family houses. Marble features in entrances, bathrooms and sometimes on a living-room floor. Most often we deal with everyday damage there: a chip from a dropped saucepan, a mark left by a cleaning product, a stain under a plant pot.

On the lakefront, between Port-Choiseul and the Vaud border, the properties are larger and the marble surfaces more generous: big living rooms, internal staircases, covered terraces. Chips and cracks are filled with a resin tinted to the colour of the stone; lippage between slabs is corrected by grinding before polishing.

Organisation

Working in Versoix day to day

Versoix is reached from Geneva along the Route de Suisse, which follows the lake, or by motorway, leaving at Le Vengeron or Coppet. In the town centre we agree a loading spot close to the entrance with the property manager or caretaker; our machines fit into a standard lift and up stairwells.

The town sits at the crossroads of our northern sector: we cover it on the same rounds as Genthod, Bellevue and, on the Vaud side, Coppet. For a property manager running several buildings in Versoix, we can group the work into a single period and propose a shared maintenance schedule.

For private clients, we choose the most convenient moment with you: during the school holidays if the family is away, or room by room if you are staying at home. A worktop or basin is done in a day; a living-room floor takes a few days depending on its size. The detailed schedule is set out in the quote, and we let you know our arrival time the day before.

Finally, many buildings and houses in Versoix have already had one or more treatments in the past: wax, floor sealers, shine-enhancing products. These layers yellow or flake over time. Where that is the case, we begin with a deep clean to get back to the bare stone before any polishing, so the new finish lasts.

FAQ

Marble restoration in Versoix: your questions

Our building’s hall in Versoix turns dull every winter. What can we do?

That is the combined effect of salt and grit carried in from outside. We suggest a full polish of the hall, then targeted maintenance of the entrance zone each spring. Together with a properly sized brush mat, this routine keeps the hall even all year round at a controlled cost.

Will residents be able to get through during the work?

Yes. We work on one half of the hall or landing at a time and clearly mark the area in progress. Marble treated with water is soon walkable again. We prepare a notice with the property manager showing the dates and times of the work.

Can you work on several buildings for the same property manager?

Yes, and it is often simpler for everyone. We visit each building, provide a quote per building in Swiss francs, then schedule the projects back to back within one period. A shared maintenance schedule can then be put in place.

Can a chip on a stair tread be repaired?

Yes. We fill the chip with a resin tinted to the colour of the marble, then polish it flush with the tread. The repair is strong and very discreet. If several stair nosings are rounded, we can also restore them during the same visit.

Do you work in lakeside houses?

Yes, from Port-Choiseul to the Vaud border. In these properties we treat large floors, internal staircases and bathrooms, carefully protecting the furniture and agreeing a schedule with you that keeps disruption to daily life to a minimum.

Is the quote free in Versoix?

Yes. Versoix is part of our regular area. The visit and the detailed quote in Swiss francs are free and with no obligation, for private owners and property managers alike.
