Flattening scratched, uneven floors before polishing.

At the foot of the Salève, we restore, polish and protect the marble in Veyrier’s family homes and recent flats. Free quote in Swiss francs.
Backing onto the French border and overlooked by the long limestone cliffs of the Salève, Veyrier occupies the south-east of the canton, between the Arve and the first slopes of the mountain. The commune brings together several hamlets, including Vessy, Sierne and Pinchat, family villa districts surrounded by gardens, and new residential developments such as Les Grands-Esserts, which have taken the commune into a new stage of its growth.
In this green setting, close to the city yet open to nature, marble features in family houses and new flats alike: pale-stone living rooms facing the Salève cliffs, interior staircases, Carrara or Calacatta bathrooms and kitchens, lobbies in recent buildings. Les Traitements du Sud · Geneva provides marble restoration in Veyrier: grinding, polishing, crystallization, repair, stain removal, sealing and maintenance.
Living at the foot of the mountain comes with its own habits: hiking, cycling, gardening and slightly harsher winters. These leave very specific traces on stone, which we take into account from the first visit to propose the right restoration, priced in a free quote in Swiss francs.
Homes in Veyrier live between indoors and outdoors. Three situations come up again and again during our visits.
Walking boots, soil from the trails, small stones lodged in the soles: the entrance and the utility room take the brunt. Scratches concentrate in the first few metres. Targeted repolishing and a well-matted porch protect the rest of the house.
In the south of the canton, snow and ice bring salt and grit onto thresholds and terraces. These crystals scratch the polish and can leave whitish deposits. We remove these marks and strengthen entrance areas with suitable crystallization.
Large windows open onto lawns and vegetable patches. Soil, grass cuttings and plant-pot rings mark marble floors near the garden doors. Targeted stain removal and a water- and oil-repellent sealer make day-to-day cleaning easier.

In Veyrier’s villa districts, houses built or extended over the decades often have a marble ground floor: living room, dining room, the corridor to the kitchen. Over time the stone loses its sheen, moved furniture leaves scratches and lippage appears between some slabs. Progressive diamond grinding flattens the floor, then careful polishing restores depth and light.
Interior staircases, heavily used in a family home, wear at the nosings and on the lowest steps. We treat them one by one, with hand tools where the machine cannot reach, for an even finish from the bottom to the top floor. See our marble floor and marble staircase pages for details of the method.
Detached house or new flat, the project follows a clear sequence, which we adjust to your family calendar.
You tell us about your project by message or phone, ideally with a few photos of the surfaces to be restored.

With the arrival of new districts, Veyrier has many recent homes in which buyers chose marble for the kitchen or bathroom. New stone benefits from early protection: an impregnation in the first few months limits coffee, wine and oil stains and slows the appearance of acid marks on a worktop.
Where the marble has already seen some life, we remove dull rings and fine scratches by polishing, then renew the protection. Splashbacks and vanity tops, often marked by Geneva’s hard water, regain a clean look. See our marble worktop and marble sealing pages.
The outline of the Salève reminds Veyrier residents every day that limestone shapes the landscape. Marble is also a limestone rock, transformed deep underground by heat and pressure, which gives it its crystalline structure and its ability to take such a fine polish. That same nature explains its sensitivity to acids, which is why the choice of cleaning products matters as much as the restoration itself.
We recommend pH-neutral cleaners, advise against vinegar and acidic descalers, and adapt the protection to each room. For high-traffic surfaces, crystallization hardens the surface and prolongs the shine; elsewhere, a simple periodic refresh is enough to keep a consistent finish.

Yes. We cover the whole commune of Veyrier: Vessy, Sierne, Pinchat, the villa districts and the new residential developments. The visit lets us arrange access and parking for our van, whether outside a detached house or at the foot of a recent building.
Now is the right time. New marble that has not yet been marked benefits fully from a water- and oil-repellent impregnation. It does not make the stone immune to acids, but it gives you time to wipe up liquids before they soak in. We can apply it quickly, with practical advice for kitchen use.
They gradually scratch the polish in the first few metres and can leave whitish deposits. A large scraper mat outside, an absorbent mat inside and pH-neutral cleaning limit the wear. If the entrance is already marked, targeted repolishing followed by crystallization restores an even appearance.
Of course. Many families start with the busiest living areas, then schedule the upper floor or the bathrooms later. We make sure the level of shine stays consistent from one phase to the next so that the whole house keeps a unified look.
It all depends on the area, the condition of the stone and how much levelling is needed. A simple repolish is quick, whereas full grinding takes more passes. The precise duration is set out in the quote after the visit.
